About Lumifyx

Lumifyx is an independent reference for people who love movies and want to understand how they are made. We explain the craft of filmmaking — cinematography, editing, sound design, and storytelling — in plain language that assumes curiosity, not film-school training.

Why this site exists

Most filmmaking writing is aimed either at professionals who already speak the jargon or at casual viewers who only get plot summaries. Lumifyx sits in the middle. Each article takes a single technique — framing, montage, foley, the three-act structure — and walks through what it is, how it works, why filmmakers reach for it, and how to spot it in the films you already watch.

How we write

Every article is grounded in well-established film theory and widely documented practice. Our editorial rules are simple and strict:

  • Accuracy first. We describe techniques as they are taught and practiced, and we never invent quotes, statistics, box-office figures, or production details.
  • No spoilers. When we mention a film as an example, we name the technique it illustrates in one short clause — never a plot retelling.
  • Plain language. We define every term the first time we use it, and we keep examples approachable for a general audience.
  • No recommendations to buy or pirate. This is education, not product promotion or legal-bypass advice.

Who writes Lumifyx

Lumifyx is written and edited by a small team of film enthusiasts with backgrounds in film studies, media production, and technical writing. We review each article for accuracy and clarity before it is published, and we update entries when established practice changes.

Editorial independence

Lumifyx is funded through advertising and does not accept payment for coverage. Advertisements are always clearly separated from editorial content. Advertisers do not influence what we write or how we write it.
